The Harrisburg Parking Authority thanks you for your interest in downtown parking. The following outline provides you with a complete overall picture of parking facilities in downtown Harrisburg.
WALNUT ST. GARAGE
-(215 Walnut Street) Facility is open for monthly parkers, the general public and Hilton Hotel parking, 24 hours daily, 7 days a week including holidays. 1032 spaces (including 20 handicap). Clearance height 6’6”. Motorcycles are not permitted in the Walnut Street Garage.
CHESTNUT ST. GARAGE-(322-326 Chestnut Street) Facility is open for general public parking 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM, Monday thru Friday with a cashier on duty from 7:15 AM to 11:00 PM, Saturday, Sunday and holidays 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM with a cashier on duty from 7:15 AM to 11:00 PM. Parking available 24 hours daily, 7 days a week including holidays for monthly parkers only. 1088 spaces (including 21 handicap). Clearance height 6’10”. Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
FIFTH ST. GARAGE-(6-14 North Fifth Street) Facility is open for general public parking 5:00 AM to 7 PM, Monday thru Friday, with a cashier on duty from 7:15 AM to 7 PM; closed major holidays. Parking available 24 hours daily, 7 days a week including holidays for monthly parkers only. 856 spaces (including 17 handicap). Clearance height 7’ with 26 spaces available for vans taller than 7’, two (2) of which are “van accessible” handicap spaces on ground floor; all other levels restricted to 6’7”.
LOCUST ST. GARAGE-(214 Locust Street) Facility is open for general public parking 5:00 AM to 7 PM, Monday thru Friday with a cashier on duty from 7:15 AM to 7 PM, closed major holidays. Parking available 24 hours daily, 7 days a week including holidays for monthly parkers only. 628 spaces (including 13 handicap). Clearance height 6’6”. Special event parking - $5.00 all day parking for scheduled events on the Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day weekends.
MARKET SQ. GARAGE-(34 South 2nd Street) Facility is open for general public parking 5:00 AM to 7 PM, Monday thru Friday with a cashier on duty 7:15 AM to 7 PM; closed major holidays. Parking available 24 hours daily, 7 days a week, including holidays, for monthly parkers only. 577 spaces (including 12 handicap). Clearance height 6’9”. Special event parking - $5.00 all day parking for scheduled events on the Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day weekends.
RIVER ST. GARAGE-(218 North 2nd Street) Facility is open for general public parking 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday; 6:00 AM to 3:00 AM Thursday & Friday; and 7:30 AM to 3:00 AM Saturday, closed major holidays. Parking available 24 hours daily, 7 days a week including holidays for monthly parkers only. 850 spaces (including 17 handicap). Clearance height 7’.
SEVENTH ST. GARAGE-(801-813 North 7th St.) Facility is open for general public parking 6:00 AM to
& SURFACE LOT7:00 PM, Monday thru Friday with a cashier on duty 7:15 AM to 7:00 PM. Facility is closed all State holidays. Parking is available 24 hours daily, 7 days a week including holidays for monthly parkers only. 1182 spaces (including 15 handicap) in the parking garage and 152 spaces in the adjacent parking lot. Clearance height 7’.
SOUTH STREET GARAGE (220 South Street) Facility is open for general public parking 5:00 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday with a cashier on duty 7:15 AM to 7 PM. Facility is closed all major holidays. Parking available 24 hours daily, 7 days a week including holidays for monthly parkers only. 736 spaces (720 regular and 16 handicap) in the parking garage. Clearance height 6’9”.
HARRISBURG UNIVERSITY GARAGE – (326 Market Street) Facility is open for general public parking 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday and 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday and closed on Sunday and all major holidays. Parking available 24 hours daily, 7 days a week including holidays for monthly parkers only. 380 spaces (including 8 handicap) in the parking garage.

CITY ISLAND-An attendant is available for daily and monthly ticket purchases 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
PARKING LOT & GARAGEMonday thru Friday. Rates are $5.00 daily and $3.00 after 1:00 PM and $75.00 monthly Bus parking is available at a rate of $10.00 per bus. 1395 spaces (including 11 handicap available north of the Walnut Street Walking Bridge behind Riverside Stadium). Garage has 484 spaces. Clearance Height 8’2”.
MULBERRY STREET-(3rd & Mulberry Streets) Parking is available 24 hours daily for monthly parkers only.
PARKING LOTRates are $95.00 non-reserved and $105.00 reserved. 85 spaces.
ON-STREET PARKING-There are in excess of 1200 metered- parking spaces located throughout the city.
Meters in the Central Business District, which includes the area bordered by Front Street, Market Street, Fisher Plaza and Forster Street (generally the area around the Capital Complex and the downtown shopping area), are $.25 for 10 minutes or $1.50 per hour. Rates for the surrounding area are 15 minutes for $.25 or $1.00 per hour. Meters are color coded to show parking time limitations: orange/black stripe (30 minutes), red (2 hour limit), yellow (4 hour limit), and green (all day parking). The majority of the parking meters are located in the central business district and the downtown area with additional parking meters in the midtown area and in the vicinity of Polyclinic Medical Center. There are nine (9) handicap parking meters located throughout the downtown area all of which have a two-hour time limit with a one-hour grace period after the two hours. Rates are in effect Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
